Cross-Registration FAQ

How do I cross register with other ARCHE member institutions?

Full-time students in good standing may apply to be enrolled in courses offered by any member institution of the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE), provided that the course is not offered at Emory and they meet the requirements.

Emory students who wish to enroll for courses at an ARCHE member institution must complete a Cross Registration application form. NOTE: Cross Registration is not offered during the Summer at Emory University (there are no exceptions).

Students are not able to audit a course. Academic credit is awarded for the course you are enrolled.

Although a grade may be awarded at the host institution, grades are converted to S/U at Emory University (no exceptions).

What is required to cross register at another school?

  1. A completed application submitted by the deadline date with your advisor’s signature and ARCHE Coordinator approval.
  2. A copy of your immunization record (you are responsible for sending to visiting school upon their request).
  3. You must be a full-time degree seeking student in good academic standing.
  4. The course you are requesting to take is not offered at Emory.
  5. You understand enrollment through the cross-registration program is not guaranteed.

Is there an extra tuition cost to cross register?

Enrolling in an ARCHE course is equivalent to enrolling in a course at Emory and the hours are calculated into your academic tuition at Emory. There is no tuition applied from the host institution.

You are responsible for any fees that you incur such as, parking, library, fines, etc.

How many classes may I cross register for?

You may take up to 2 classes per semester and a total of 18 hours as a cross registration student.

ARHCE students are only permitted to attend classes in which they are officially enrolled. Attending a course without enrollment is not allowed. Instructors should not grant access to the class or CANVAS without prior authorization.

As a cross registration student, am I sure to get into the class I want to take at the host school?

No – enrollment through the ARCHE program does not guarantee enrollment. Enrollment is based upon “space available in the course.” If there are open seats in the class, after the host’s school’s regular enrollment, then students that wish to cross register may be enrolled as long as there are no program restrictions.

Schools also have the right to limit courses that are offered through cross registration.
