Data Requests
The Office of the University Registrar complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Emory University’s Data Management Policy. Under this Act, individuals with an educational need to know may access student data for the purpose of fulfilling required job responsibilities. FERPA requires that you maintain the confidentiality of all students’ records, and that no information from the records be released to a third party without the written permission of the student.

Data Request Process
Data Requests will be tracked and monitored via Salesforce by the Data Management Support Team. Once you submit a Data Request, you will receive a New Case notification email stating the Case #. A member of the Data Management Support team will communicate with you via email. You will receive updates/communications via email. Once the case is resolved, you will receive a closed case notification via email.
The Office of the University Registrar endeavors to complete all data requests within 5-10 business days from submission for any normal request. The time frame can be longer though depending on if the request is complex, we need to build an entirely new query to extract the data, or we as an office are experiencing peak times. If there is particularly urgent need for the data, then please include that information in your request (including any external deadlines related to the request) so we can assess them during review.
